Interior space and comfort

The second-generation Kona Electric is larger and more upscale than its predecessor and is built on the new K3 platform, giving it the feel of a mid-sized SUV. This expansion in size contributes to enhanced comfort and space for both passengers and cargo, including a 466-litre boot size and 27-litre ‘frunk’ (front boot) on offer. All of this while remaining a practical size for zipping about town.

Inside the cabin, you’ll find the interior boasts two large 12.3-inch displays with a fresh software system and a more upscale feel compared to the previous Kona Electric. This digital cockpit enhances the overall driving experience and brings modernity to the forefront.

Design and specifications

Added to the Kona Electric lineup for this generation is the sportier N-Line trim, which brings a range of visual enhancements such as sports alloy wheels, unique paint options, exterior body kit with red elements, and a bespoke interior treatment to make it stand out.

EV battery, driving range and performance

The Kona Electric offers two battery options: 48kWh (Standard Range) and 65kWh (Long Range), which correspond to different motor power outputs and maximum driving range.

The larger Long Range battery version claims an impressive range of 490 kilometres on the WLTP test cycle and offers fast charging from 10 to 80 percent charge in just 43 minutes, making long journeys more convenient for EV drivers. The motor output from this top-tier model is 160kW of power and 255Nm of torque.

The Standard Range version uses a smaller battery and provides exceptional value. The claimed driving range from this variant is 342km on a single charge while it produces a solid 115kW of power and 255Nm of torque.

The Kona Electric uses a 400volt system with a vehicle-to-load (V2L) function which allows users to take household power from outlets located both inside and outside the car.

Real-world tests are already coming in for the new Kona Electric and it’s showcasing comfortable, smooth performance with a refined driving experience.
